Theme Room Proposals

A theme room brings together related workshops and presentations in one space for a series of workshops between 11am to 5pm. Some examples of previous theme rooms include: Anti-Racist Struggles Theme Room (2016), Autonomous Media Room (2016), Kids, Caregivers & Comrades Theme Room (2016),Autonomous Media Room (2015), Anti-Canada Room (2015)Autonomous Media Room (2014)Kids, Comrades and Caregivers Theme Room (2013)Autonomous Media Room (2012), Anarchist Families Room (2012), Autonomous Media & Technology Room (2011)Indigenous Solidarity Room 2010Anti-Capitalist Resistance Room 2010Anarchist Parent’s Discussion Room 2010.

If you propose a Theme Room, at least one-half of all workshops and presentations in the Theme Room must be in French (to be clear, by French we mean workshops presented in French, NOT translated presentations and/or bilingual workshops). We can consider exceptions for languages other than English or French.

Please use the following online form to make a Theme Room proposal for the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair, or contact us directly at (answering ALL the questions below). The deadline to propose a Theme Room has been extended to MONDAY, APRIL 3, 2017 before 5pm Montreal time (no exceptions).

Please provide ALL of the following information clearly:

a) Provide a title of the Theme Room you’re proposing, in both French and English (exactly as it will appear on our website).

b) Provide a schedule of workshops, between 11am-5pm, for your Theme Room (indicate clearly the title of each workshop, in both French and English).

c) Provide a longer description -- as long as you need -- to describe your Theme Room proposal. This longer description will be read by the Bookfair collective to help us decide which proposals to accept.

d) Provide a short description (50 words or less) or each workshop you’re proposing in your theme room (exactly as it will appear in our publicity). For each workshop, indicate clearly which language it will be presented in.

e) Indicate clearly which group or groups are organizing this Theme Room.

f) Provide a one-line description of all individuals or group presenting in your Theme Room.

g) If applicable, please indicate here if your Theme Room workshops are designed for kids or for all ages.

h) Please indicate whether your Theme Room requires internet access, so that we can properly organize.

i) Please indicate if you prefer that your Theme Room take place on Saturday, May 26 or Sunday, May 27 (or either date).

j) Provide contact information (e-mail and telephone) for someone responsible for the Theme Room (for Bookfair internal communications only). Provide a single contact e-mail that you check regularly.

k) RECIPROCITY: If your Theme Room proposal is chosen to be part of the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair, we ask that you promote the Bookfair & Festival of Anarchy on your website, blog and/or announcements list, as applicable (at least once in May), and as much as possible, help with flyering and postering. Please indicate here how you can help with promotion of the Bookfair.
